BEACHES

Alanya’s beaches consist of wide sandy shores and are Blue Flag certified. The Blue Flag is an international program that defines and monitors the cleanliness of seawater used for swimming, as well as beach standards. Beaches that meet the required criteria are awarded the Blue Flag for one year. Microbiological and physicochemical analyses of the seawater are carried out every 15 days.

In Alanya, the color of the sea changes from blue to turquoise along the coast. On calm days, it is possible to see fish on the seabed with the naked eye.

In the city center of Alanya, beaches stretch along both the western and eastern sides of the historic peninsula. Damlataş and Cleopatra beaches are located to the west, while Keykubat and Portakal beaches are located to the east. Outside the city, there are beaches such as Ulaş, Konaklı, Fuğla, İncekum, Mahmutlar, Kestel, Kargıcak, and Demirtaş.

At the beaches in the city center, local regulations as well as international rules are applied. Entrance to the beaches and showers are free of charge. Sun loungers and beach umbrellas are available for a fee, but using these services is optional. Buffets on the beaches serve food and drinks. Swimming areas are marked with barriers; boats and water sports vehicles are not allowed to enter these areas beyond a certain distance from the shore. Beach safety is supervised by private security on land and maritime police at sea.

Damlataş Beach
Located west of the historic peninsula, in front of Damlataş Cave, this beach is Blue Flag certified. Both the sea and the beach are sandy. The beach rests against the slopes of the peninsula. According to legend, Queen Cleopatra of Egypt stopped in Alanya during a Mediterranean voyage and swam in this bay. The most remarkable feature of Cleopatra Bay is the clarity of its water.

Cleopatra Beach
As the continuation of Damlataş Beach, Cleopatra Beach is approximately 2 kilometers long. It is Blue Flag certified. Both the sea and the beach are sandy, and it has a wide shoreline. The sea reaches human height just three or four steps from the shore. It is one of Alanya’s most popular beaches and welcomes tens of thousands of visitors during the summer months. The sunset creates a spectacular view on the beach.

Keykubat Beach
Located east of the historic peninsula, Keykubat Beach is Blue Flag certified. The sea and beach are sandy, with sandstone in some areas. Due to the parks along the coast and the green areas of tourist facilities, it is also known as Begonvil Beach.

Portakal / Oba Beach
Located on the eastern coast of the city center, this beach is approximately 1 kilometer long and Blue Flag certified. The magnificent slopes of the Taurus Mountains rise behind it. It has wide sandy areas that can reach up to 100 meters in some places. In areas where streams flow into the sea, cool fresh water can be felt.

Ulaş / Emirgan Beach
Located 5 kilometers west of Alanya by the roadside, this area is arranged as a picnic site on a rocky promontory. The bay, reached by stairs, is used as a beach. Both the sea and the beach are sandy. It is also a stop for daily boat tours. The surroundings are decorated with maquis vegetation, flowers, and trees. Entrance to the picnic area and beach is subject to a fee.

İncekum Beach
Both the sea and the beach are sandy. The golden-yellow sand is exceptionally fine and does not stick to the body. The sea is shallow, making it an ideal beach especially for children who are learning to swim.

İncekum Forest Camp
Located within a pine forest, the camp area includes facilities belonging to the Ministry of Forestry, as well as tent areas and picnic areas for daily visitors. The beach section consists of a small bay; the sandy shore begins where the pine trees end. Entrance to the camp area and beach is subject to a fee.

Fuğla Beach
Located 20 kilometers west of Alanya, Fuğla Beach lies within a wide bay. Some daily boat tours stop at Fuğla Bay for lunch and swimming breaks. The sea and beach are sandy, while the promontory areas include sandstone and rocky sections.

Mahmutlar Beach
The sea and beach are sandy, with sandstone in some areas. Part of the coastline, which stretches for about 5 kilometers, is a natural beach. Entrance is free of charge.

Kestel Beach
Approximately 2 kilometers long, Kestel Beach is sandy. There are buffets along the coast offering beach services.

Kargıcak Beach
This beach stretches for several kilometers. There are buffets belonging to tourist facilities in the area.

Demirtaş Beach
Demirtaş Beach has a long sandy and conglomerate shoreline stretching as far as the eye can see. There are buffets, and it generally has the character of a natural beach.
